Homestead FL, AC Duct Cleaning

Fresh air from AC unit
You should not underestimate how important proper air-conditioning duct cleaning and sanitizing is for the smooth running of your business or the health of your family at home. There are two types of duct cleaning, Rotobrush system or Negative Air system. Each of these methods have a very different process but both of them are extremely effective at removing contaminants from your duct network.

Air-conditioning cleaning cost will vary greatly depending on many factors like the size of your property or the type of system you have. Contact us with your details and we will do our best to provide you with an accurate quote for your home or business. A simple way to work out an approximate cost to clean your AC duct system would be to multiply the number of outlet vents by $35. For example, if your home has 10 air vents, it would cost approximately $350 to clean your system.
Here are a few simple ways you can determine whether or not It's time to clean your AC ducts.
By simply looking into your easily accessible vents with a flashlight you will be able to see any excessive build-up of dust or hair. If you own pets, you should do this more frequently.
Another sign that cleaning is required will be visible mold. If you see mold you should get your AC system cleaned immediately even if there is only minimal hair or dust visible. Not all mold in AC vents is dangerous to your health but why take the risk.
The most obvious sign and probably the most serious would be if you find evidence of rodents or pests in your duct-work. This is something you do not want to leave unattended for any length of time.

The two most common methods of AC duct cleaning are described below.
Rotobrush cleaning.
This is a 3-stage process.
  • First a video inspection system is used to determine the amount and type of contaminants in your duct-work. Our technician will look for mold, moisture, animal droppings and dirt or debris in the duct network.
  • Our technicians will insert the hose and rotating brush head which will be guided along the air ducts, cleaning and vacuuming as it goes. Once the main ducts are clean we move to the supply and return plenums to ensure they are also spotless.
  • After the whole system has been scrubbed and vacuumed clean, we use a sanitizing fog machine to apply a mist of EPA approved Antimicrobial. Not only does this antimicrobial kill or slow the spread of microorganisms, viruses, protozoa and fungi but it will also leave a pleasant scent throughout your home.

Negative air.
The Negative air machine is a relatively new system which removes very fine particles of contaminant from your entire system. This is achieved by sealing your home's HVAC network to create negative air pressure using a high powered vacuum and a filtering system.  Technicians will also use pressure hoses to blow any stubborn debris towards the negative air machine and its filters.
As with the rotor brush method once your ducts are cleaned the entire system will be  treated using the sanitizing fog machine.
Each of these methods  are extremely effective but  are quite different. our trained technicians will advise you which of these systems is best for your home. call now to speak to one of our professionals and receive a free quote.

Here are some problems you may encounter if you don't maintain your HVAC system. Should your system become infested with unwanted substances, this will undoubtedly have an impact on the health of all occupants. With blocked vents and ducts your system will have to work harder to push the same amount of air meaning motors and parts will wear out far quicker than normal. This means bigger bills and more work in the future.

Regular maintenance of your HVAC system will also help to keep unwanted pests and rodents away. Check out our AC Repair and service page to learn more.
If you have pets that shed hair frequently, we recommend more frequent maintenance inspections of your AC duct system. This would also be true if you have a smoker in your household.
Once your air-conditioning system becomes overloaded with dust or other contaminants this dirty air will be recirculated throughout your household. This may worsen existing breathing problems or cause sudden respiratory problems and other illnesses.

Mold Is obviously one of the more serious problems you could face in your AC ducts. Mold does not prefer any specific temperature but normally develops at temperatures close to that of the human body. This fact combined with mold being airborne can make for a serious threat in your home or work place. You may have moisture in your duct system for many reasons and this is also something that could cause mold growth.
If mold is found in your system we recommend getting it tested by a qualified mold testing laboratory. This is not as big a job as you think and normally only costs around $50. Black mold is one type that you should be concerned about and act quickly to remove it.

Our technicians are professionally trained and here to help you. The team leader will co-ordinate an individual plan to suit the needs of your home or business while maintaining your privacy and most of all your safety.

While inspecting your AC ducts, our cleaning technicians will inform you of any components that require maintenance or replacement. Usually most components can be cleaned and reused for a considerable length of time but occasionally some parts need to be replaced to ensure your system is running at its best. The most common component for replacement would be screen filters.

We aim to have your  system cleaned and in perfect running order  as quick as possible. Obviously this is determined by the size of your home or business  and  the amount of cleaning required. We recommend dedicating a full day to allow our technicians to do the best job possible.

Outdoor Air Conditioner condenser units
Here are some components of a heating, ventilation and air conditioning system (HVAC) with a simple description so that you may identify them more easily at home.
Duct-work
This is a system of ducts that carries the conditioned air from your HVAC system to the different areas of your home. The ducts can be made from many different materials with aluminium being the most common.
Vents.
These are normally located in every room of your house and are the outlet for your heated or cooled air from the duct-work. They are usually rectangular in shape and maybe on the floor, roof or walls.
Thermostat.

Your thermostat is a network of temperature monitoring devices which send signals to the HVAC system,  scheduling when to deliver cool or warmer air to each room of your home or building. The best position for a thermostat would be in the center of your home in order to provide an average temperature reading.
Condenser coil / Compressor.
The condenser coil or compressor unit is normally positioned outside of your home. This is what provides the cool air to your ventilation system. The unit compressors refrigerant gases into cold liquid in the coil pipes then a fan blows air over the coil delivering cool air into your ventilation system.
